Cedar Grove Cemetery is established.
1867
Designed by Luther Briggs Jr., it is located at 920 Adams Street. A garden cemetery, it is said to be the only cemetery in the U.S. traversed by a trolley line, a condition imposed by the Old Colony Railroad when it sold the land on which the cemetery is established. The first lot is sold in 1870, and the current name is adopted in 1896.
